NATURAL DISASTERS STRIKE

This year 2014 there was a chemical spill that leaked into the water supply in Charleston west Virginia it contaminated the water supply January 9 ,2014. About 7.500 gallons of chemical called MCHM leaked out of a small hole in the steel tank . This tank belonged to the freedom industries. In 1919 a massive explosion spill caused major damage to the Boston town. The molasses flood was very similar because of the the both caused problems for the environment.

The first sign of trouble what a strange smell coming from sinks and showers. MCHM is used in processing coal. West Virginia officials quickly ordered a water use ban across the affected areas.
The first sign of the molasses flood of 1919 was the sound of the massive tank going rat rat tat tat then boom sounds of screws flying everywhere this flood killed 21 people in Boston on this day. cleaning up this mess was awfulweeks after the accident you could still smell the molasses in the air.

In west Virginia there are underground chemicals storage  regulations  for above ground storage are less strict.  little is known about the effects of MCHM on the human body. Many people consider that the federal law on chemical safety  which is 37 years old is dangerously outdated.Bringing in a huge storage tank filled with molasses was a great danger for the environment at times people would become nervous for the safety of the town because of the sounds and creaks the tank would make during the day.
